What a night; what a day!
August 7th, 2008
Well, we have not had a night that bad for a while. Himself was awake and delerious with a 38.8 temperature at midnight last night. We managed to get him settled and get the temp down by 2am….and curls woke up.
So we had to transfer himself to our bed and let curls scream himself to sleep. Luckily the small one slept through the drama.
So we decided to keep himself home from kindy today. Curls woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning so we had tears and tantrums most of the day.
Curls has his first haircut today. He did well. My baby boy is looking less like a baby.
I’m still “soul searching” . Trying to sort a lot in my own mind. The mad cow, the cabin fever, the career options. Maybe tomorrow huh?
Thought for the day:-
If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.

Good day today
August 6th, 2008
It’s amazing what a good nights sleep can do for a person.
The small one had a good sleep last night and so did I. I started the day feeling a lot better than I have been.
With himself off at kindy this morning and away this afternoon, I could focus more attention on curls and the small one.
I am beginning to think more about life after children. I need a career. I don’t know what I want to do. I don’t know what I want to be. I don’t know who I am anymore.
I feel like I have lost my identity. I am no longer me. I am a mother. I am a wife. Who was I before? I can’t remember. It has been so long since I was alone I don’t know “me”
I suppose that is why I am writing this blog…..it’s to find myself again. As a person, an individual.
Thought for the day:-
Life may not be the party we ask for, but while we are here, we may as well dance.

Another shocker
August 5th, 2008
Last night would have been one of the worst nights we have had. With the husband away I was in charge of the three terrors. Himself was actually very well behaved. He ate all his dinner and watched some playhouse and went to bed really well. Curls on the other hand, was a bit more difficult. He was absolutely knackered having not slept that afternoon was just about asleep in his high chair over dinner. He went to bed really well and apart from a wee stir about 8 he was out for the count. “yahoo i say….maybe just the one to deal with tonight” HA!!! as if……he had a wee coughing fit at 11.00 and that was it. He was NOT going back to bed. His tantrum got so bad that I had to move himself into my bed so he could get some sleep. I had, before that, managed to get the small one to sleep but she woke up so I had the two of them screaming. I had to shut his door and leave him to it. After about 45 minutes he finally stopped. HER on the other hand was still fighting sleep at 4.30 and then curls was awake at 5. So no sleep for me last night.
And this brings us to today……I am now under complete control of this cold or flu. It is not nice at all. The small one has been running a temperature and curls has been running riot. He knows when I am running on empty. I swear it! He has just been belligerent and rampaging all day. I am exhausted. I am so glad that the husband is home tonight. I need some adult conversation.
I do believe that this blog thing is good for the soul. I am enjoying venting. I may be the only one that ever reads this but that is ok… I have said it…it’s out there…no more bottling.
Thought for the day:-
Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.

Rough Day Today…..
August 4th, 2008
It’s been quite rough today….
Illness has invaded the ranks and it is depleting the defences. I’ve managed to stave it off for 2 weeks but I’ve finally succumbed and raised the little white flag of defeat. So I feel like crap. It’s one of those nasty “in your lungs” types too. We all have it.
Curls is affected the worst. It’s playing havoc with his asthma and he’s not sleeping well so the behaviour is deteriorating as fast as his health……and my patience.
Himself is finally starting to kick it which is good. It was him that brought it home from kindy.
The small one had a very rough night last night so, I had a very rough night last night. I’m feeling more than slightly frazzled and curls is like a shark….he can sense weakness and so he has been larger than life today.
The husband is away for the night for business……I’m looking forward to him getting back. I have to take my hat off to all the solo parents out there. I am only a part time solo, but that is more than enough for me. Kudos to them.
I long for a full night of sleep. Unbroken. Undisturbed….Oh well, the kids will be teenagers one day and I’ll probably be fighting to get them out of their beds.
Until then, I shall sleep as I am allowed.

Welcome back chaos
August 4th, 2008
And thus the chaos ensues. The husband and the boys arrived home today. It was quite nice to see them. It had been quiet and I had craved some conversation with an adult.
I actually managed to accomplish a bit today which was nice. I had that peaceful calm that comes with a clean environment. Tried a nice new recipe for dinner. It was a slow cooked apricot lamb curry. Quite good.
Goals for tomorrow….Get the place tidy, stay on the level, be happy.

This is me.
August 1st, 2008
I decided I needed an outlet……and this is it.
I am minus a husband and 2 children this weekend. They have gone away for a few nights to give me a break. It’s quite nice…peaceful….quiet.
I have not got as much done today as I wanted to….due to the face that one small individual has taken up all of my time by not wanting to sleep unless I am carrying her. The perogative of a 15 week old? Or the startings of a bossy boots?
I have actually spent a lot of the day watching tv which I feel guilty about. I know I have so much I have to do but when the small one is being so demanding I just can’t do much else.
I have had a few phone calls from the husband which was nice. I miss him a lot when he is away. The boys are running him ragged instead of me ![]()
Well for my first entry I am surprised at how easy this is……I think I may find this therapeutic. Calming even. Might even keep the mad cow at bay……
